ALL THAT SMOOOOTH JAZZ
ALL THAT SMOOOOTH JAZZ
For several months we had eagerly waited to get to Nevada. Why? We are smoothjazz junkies and we had been able to purchase tickets to see Candy Dulfer [http://candydulfer.nl/; she’s from the Netherlands] in concert. While we got to Pahrump a few days late {Dave’s fault}, we arrived in time to go into Las Vegas to see Candy in the Chrome Room at the Santa Fe Station Casino. We knew of her talent having listened to some of her music on both Dallas and Phoenix smoothjazz radio stations. She is a phenomenal altosax artist.
What we did not know was how great a performer she is. What a show she and her band put on. The audience was in awe! The concert lasted almost 2 hours. We definitely got our money’s worth. We even had great seats -second row in the middle! My only quibble was that she did not play the sax more. But she sang and gave each member of her band the opportunity to showcase their talents as well. Her strongest influence musically is Prince. Some members of her band are former members of his entourage. But Candy has developed her own unique style and stage presence.
After the show she came out to meet her fans and sign autographs. Of course we had to meet her! We bought two CD’s and with the help of a nice couple in line with us had our photograph taken with her. We found her to be delightful! We told her that it would be great to see her perform with fellow saxophone artist, Euge Groove. All the casino staff members had been remarking about what a nice person she is, and they were right. [Dave noted that if he were a few years younger......]

[and she’s Beautiful Inside and Out]
