New Winter Home
No, we haven’t gotten a new car - the Subaru is now in the driveway. And no, we haven’t sold the motorhome, we’ve just decided that we would ‘try’ living in a ‘house’ again for the winter months while we are in Mesa.
We have a Park Model, which is only just a little larger than our motorhome at 400 sq. feet. It is 35 ft. long and 12 feet wide. It does have wheels underneath and is actually still classified as an RV. But it has a normal toilet (though it took a couple of days before I stopped trying to use my foot to flush) no holding tanks to monitor and dump, and other things that make you think ‘house’.
A little more room in the living area including a couple of recliners, a sofa bed, and a dining table with 4 chairs. Not a lot of room, but a little more.
Large covered carport with areas for a table and chairs and at the back a shed that houses a full size washer and dryer.
We are in the process of getting our stuff - - and where did all of this stuff come from - into the house and sorting out what will stay in the house and what will come with us when we start traveling in April. The bedroom closet slide moved in very quickly when all of the clothes were removed. Obviously there will be less in the closet when we head out again - all of the winter stuff will stay here, as well as the Christmas stuff and some other keepsakes.
One of the reasons for getting the Park Model was to give Shadow some extra room during our winter stays. Unfortunately she only had a week in the house, but did seem to enjoy it and enjoyed walking around the park in the evening. We miss her, but we have such wonderful memories and as we walk each night, we comment on things that she would have been curious about and each new rig coming in would be new tires to sniff.
Wednesday morning, at 7:45 am, as I’m reading my email there was a knock at the door. Luckily I was in my bathrobe, and when I answered I was informed that they were ready to put the new driveway in. As I stood there dumbfounded, the foreman looked at me and said “Didn’t they call you?” Obviously not - but I quickly dressed and moved the car so they could begin.
It has been fun to watch the park slowly start to fill. Lots of people from the Canadian provinces have been arriving and noticed some from the upper midwest getting in this week. Friends from Eastern Washington arrived yesterday and we joined Dan & Tina tonight for dinner out and to celebrate Tina’s birthday.
